are we going to a park again? why is it taking so long?

We took Kaiju to Paul’s parents home for the long weekend. It was Kaiju’s first looong drive (4.5 hours). The longest so far was in February before the injury, and it was supposed to be about 2 hours drive, which ended up taking a lot longer because of the total puke fest. We had to make frequent stops to clean up and comfort the sickly puppy.

We were better prepared this time. We gave him Cerenia, and had purchased a Kurgo Wander Hammock so cleanup will be easier just in case. He did very well for most of the way. Then, as soon as Paul said “we are almost there! 15 more minutes!”, he threw up.

is this a park?

Next morning, we took Kaiju out to the backyard, which is quite large. He was very nervous and scared in the house with all the unfamiliar pieces of furniture and rooms, but as soon as he was outside in this big open space, he seemed happy (but a little confused).

Too bad we couldn’t let him run free. The backyard was pretty much fully enclosed, but his left knee was still injured after all and it had been recommended to us that we restrict his activities.

We started teaching Kaiju to play dead last week. He konws what is asked of him. But, he entertains us with a very slow play-death. We’re not sure how to speed things up. I guess we’ll keep trying.

weeeee

weee!

I’ve been mostly staying in the house since my knee broke on March 1st. I sleep most of the day in my den. In the evenings, I get to spend time in the bigger room with my people. I chew on toys, watch TV, and sleep some more. I have to stay really quiet (=no trotting, jumping, and roughhousing), so that’s pretty much all I can do, especially with this giant cone around my head.

When I sleep, though, I dream about the trip we took up north two months ago. I dream about running in the snow and chasing a ball.

I also dream about that big dog, Sasha, I met during that trip. It was right before my injury. She taught me how to have fun with tree branches. I hope I will see her again soon when I’m better!

What is this thing around my neck anyway?

And everything hurts.

My humans have been playing with me correctly these days. They throw a round object for me to go and fetch. When I come back with it, they give me treats. I don’t really want to give it up sometimes. Because it’s mine. But then I don’t get to go grab it again, so I let them have it just temporarily.

Kaiju wants to go up on sofa… and can’t…. JFYI, eventually, we helped him up and he happily sat there with us for a while.

Don’t mind the magenta leash. Charleen the breeder sent us home with this one. We should’ve had one ready for our boy, but we totally flaked…
