We had the first weekend-long camping trip at Squam Lake this year last week (yes, there'll be another one soon). The beautiful Squam Lake is in New Hampshire, and was the stage for the film, "On Golden Pond" with Henry Fonda and Katharine Hepburn. Early booking is recommended. Those camp sites are quite popular.

We took Kaiju there last September. The camp site we had this time was very similar (and close) to last year's. What was not similar was that it POURED through the canoe ride there (1 - 1.5 hrs), and all through the first night. Ick. We set up a tarp in the rain so we could have a little non-drenching area, but what we wore (including shoes) and everything we left outside got soaked regardless.

Flowdog session this morning. Look how I surf and scheme the escape at the same time! I almost succeeded, too!

At this week's Flowdog swimming session, Kaiju got on a boogieboard for the first time. We had been trying to get him used to the board itself for the past couple of weeks by placing it near him while he swam. He started sniffing it last week, so Chris decided to try and putting him on it this week. Here are the photos!

why am i here?

Kaiju will have his 2nd Flowdog session on Monday.

His first session was on the 5th of August. We were so nervous as to how he would react, to the therapist Chris, or to having to go into an unfamiliar building, being touched, and most important of all, the swimming pool...

Good thing we brought his favorite blue towel (and a rope toy). He let us walk him around in the lobby while waiting, but would go straight back to the home base to sit on afterward.

We had alerted Chris, the therapist, of Kaiju's shyness via email ahead of time, so she approached him accordingly. When the session began, she ignored him completely for the first 20 minutes or so, and Kaiju hid behind the chairs.

Eventually, we got him out of there, laid him down on his towel, and went through some lessons of manual stretching. All those things we learned, we'd have to do at home every day for the next few weeks.
