I spent last week on Long Island! It was so much fun… I love it there!

Every day, I would wake up, go out to the backyard, dig holes in the ground, and wait for someone to come play with me! It’s way more fun out there with company. On Friday I got a pawsome surprise, as Shio and Goo Goo came over to play!

this thing was so weird that I needed to warn it to stay away!

Until 1pm on weekends, dogs are allowed to run around freely in this huge enclosed field. We are just so bad in the mornings that we often miss this time slot. However, for the past few weekends, we have been trying harder to get up, get dressed, get in the car, and drive Kaiju there in time, even if we have not even had our coffee.

There, we have been fortunate enough to frequently encounter a cute little white Shiba named “Pudding“. She is quite spunky. She gave us a huge scare this week when she ran out of the gate and into the very busy avenue. She came THIS close to the oncoming traffic. We heard cars honking, and saw the little white body run into the street. Everybody in the park covered their mouth. Her owner jumped over the fence and called her name really loud, to which she responded and turned around. Thank goodness. It took a while for us people in the park to recompose ourselves.

And to our surprise, we met two more Shibas (Jules and Cody) there today although We only managed to capture the image of Jules. It’s a nice way to spend Saturday morning, standing around and chatting with other Shiba Inu servants!

So, on top of going to the awesome park earlier, I had a friend come over late night! My humans went out, and brought home their human friend & her Whippet, June.

She is SOOO bouncy (although she’s a lot calmer than, say, half year ago).

The human friend said June was kind of territorial at her own home and having a doggie guest never worked out well. So she was worried about how I would react to having June in the house, but c’mon, we’ve tried this before and although it was very brief, it went pretty well.

And of course, everything went very well, again… we played, we drank water, and we layed down, together!

June really likes me, I think?

Anyway, I’d say we are good friends now and she can come over any time! I’m a good host 🙂 If you would like to see us playing, please check out this video!

Unfortunately, June made a mistake in the kitchen, and the pawty was over then because the humans had to clean up. She’ll do better next time. She just drank too much water. That’s all.

My humans found another dog park, pretty close to home. It’s not big, but we met some nice dogs and dog owners!

We had the first weekend-long camping trip at Squam Lake this year last week (yes, there’ll be another one soon). The beautiful Squam Lake is in New Hampshire, and was the stage for the film, “On Golden Pond” with Henry Fonda and Katharine Hepburn. Early booking is recommended. Those camp sites are quite popular.

We took Kaiju there last September. The camp site we had this time was very similar (and close) to last year’s. What was not similar was that it POURED through the canoe ride there (1 – 1.5 hrs), and all through the first night. Ick. We set up a tarp in the rain so we could have a little non-drenching area, but what we wore (including shoes) and everything we left outside got soaked regardless.

We let Kaiju off-leash sometimes, in unenclosed areas, although we strictly limit the duration and locations. When we do let him go, and when he runs towards us, it’s such an awesome feeling.

At one of the city parks we take Kaiju to at least once a week. He loves it here, but prefers to watch other dogs play in water. We take him there, and every single time, we hope he’ll swim. No luck so far.

It was a very warm day, so my humans kept me inside most of the day. I wondered what was going on, because they usually take me to fun places during the day on weekends. Finally, in late late afternoon, my humans got me and everything in the car and got going. Apparently, they were waiting for the temperature and the sun to go down before visiting this dog beach they read about online. Thirty minutes later, we arrived… Wooeeeee. I played with doggies, then walked around with my humans.
